What are Backlinks?​

Backlinks, also known as inbound or incoming links, are hyperlinks from one website to another. They are fundamental to the SEO process because they serve as endorsements of a website's content. When a webpage receives a backlink from another site, it signals to search engines like Google that the content is valuable and authoritative. This endorsement can help improve the linked site's visibility and ranking in search engine results.

What are Referring Domains?​

Referring domains, also referred to as linking root domains, are the unique websites that provide backlinks to your site. Essentially, while backlinks measure the total number of links pointing to your website, referring domains count how many different websites these links are coming from.

For example, if a website receives 100 backlinks, all originating from a single domain, it counts as 100 backlinks but only one referring domain. Conversely, if those 100 backlinks come from 50 different websites, you have 50 referring domains.
