A staggering number of new domain registrations are for malicious purposes (1.Viewing)

Thanks for the alley-oop!

Clearly, every TLD has malicious domains but we're really proud of what we do to ensure .CA is one of the cleanest zones out there. A big part is how we keep the zone clean is through our Canadian Presence Requirements and our Registrant Information Validation process. These alone present a barrier to malicious registrations.

We have other processes, including CDRP, that help but really the main thing is that we don't prioritize registrations at any cost. Some TLDs just want numbers, and that may be fine for them, but for .CA we want to ensure quality because our goal is a safe, secure and stable .CA.

I really like to reference this data from Spamhaus on ccTLD reputation statistics. You will see that .CA is #87 of 94 in the list of ccTLDs with a bad reputation (in this list being #1 is bad).

We're not perfect but we do genuinely care that Canadians can trust .CA.
