I'm on the hunt for a Canadian SEO company and wonder if any of my fellow ecommerce'ers have a person or company that they have used and would recommend?

Thanks,

Shaun

I can't personally vouch for any Canadian companies but i found this website which ranks Canadian seo companies, and they give quite a bit of detail about each: https://www.topseos.com/ca/best-seo-companies-in-canada

Topseos.com gets quite a bit of traffic so I "think" that list must be somewhat legit.

I also came across this company before, which is pretty active on twitter and their website gets a lot of traffic too: https://www.nirvanacanada.com | https://twitter.com/NirvanaCanada

I'm sure others will be able to make personal recommendations but I would suggest seeing how much traffic they get themselves. If they can't get good traffic to their own website, then they're probably not a good option.

Perhaps you know all this already but if there's anything I've learned about SEO it's that content is the most important thing, and copyscape.com is a great tool to make sure your content is 100% original.

Thanks, Esdiel. I had looked at that "topseos.com" list...I'm always suspicious of these kinds of lists; sort of like the top hosting lists. I did look last night at who showed up in the top 10 on Google.ca (Canada as country) for SEO Companies and Canadian SEO Companies. I know SEO is a tough keyword to rank for organically, so that's where I was starting my search. I still value personal recommendations though. Agree about content...real important and up there with good relevant backlinks. Thanks.

What's the recommended keyword density percentage at these days? Is it still around 5%?

I think that is still important, but backlinks seem to own the day.

I'm almost finished with my search for an SEO company for our gourmet candy site, and it's been an interesting journey. I decided to split my hunt between existing SEO companies and Canadian-based freelancers. What was the most waste of time was LinkedIn. I spend a few hours slogging through hundreds of "SEO Freelancers", narrowed it down to about five, contacted them, and only one of the five even got back to me within a week. I guess Canadian-based SEO freelancers are too busy for new business or don't need the $x,xxx a month. Don't get me started on UpWork...

At the end of the day, I've narrowed it down to two Canadian SEO companies and will pick one shortly.

Sounds like SEO is a good opportunity for anyone wanting to start a business....

It's like companies that offer Facebook / Google Ad help. The internet is full of "experts", with all managing accounts doing millions a year in sales. A bunch of snack oil salesmen. We are hoping the one we pick will live up to their reputation. The nice thing about things like SEO and the like is that if you do a good job, you can have a client for years, with annual revenue of $xx,xxx per client.

After interviewing several companies and a few freelancers, we ended up hiring a SEO freelancer we found on LinkedIn, to work on our candy site. He started a couple weeks ago.

Welcome! What brings you here? Looking for seo/webdesign business? Or looking for domains?

I was thinking the same thing, could not decide if it was legit or spam.

That said all the profile fields are filled out, they seem to have 3 Canadian Offices, decent google reviews and are responding on topic so I decided to leave them be.

I hope they're here to learn and/or contribute and not just a one time advertisement, but their post looks strategically created for an SEO backlink more than anything else, so I'm skeptical we'll ever see them really participating in the forum.

But if @Blue Flamingo likes domains, I have a few right up their alley!
