We all know the sunsetting of uniregisry is well under way and it won't be long until it is completely swallowed up by godaddy.

The same thing will probably happen to DAN.com as godaddy grabs it's best features and starts to deactivate current features.

In my opinion that could be a good thing if godaddy actually implemented some of the technology but instead they keep relying on afternic which is probably the most antiquated bloated worst piece of software out there. I understand why they do it because it's a monster and it cannot easily be dismantled.

So I thought it would be fun to open a topic predicting when DAN.com would be fully dismantled. I thought about it for a bit and I don't think there is any need for them to keep it around too long. We can see the slick new afternic and godaddy parking pages and it does not take a genie to figure out dans days are numbered. The slick pages may look a bit like dans but its still like putting makeup on a cow because the backend of the software is still a bloated mess.

So as I thought about it I will say January next year but since I am going to make this a bit of a competition I have to be more precise so I am picking January 5, 2024

I thought Uni would be swallowed up into Godaddy by now, but it's still going. Probably because they still carry extensions that Godaddy doesn't yet.

It's far better to keep these acquisitions going as separate brands as it at least creates the illusion of competition.

This is actually a growing trend with larger firms - it used to be they'd be all worried about their "brand" and how to quickly amalgamate it into their primary company, but now with monopoly being a bad word, these big guys are now playing a shell game to hide behind a ton of micro-brands.

I can see GoDaddy running Dan for years to come.
