Will Canadians give up the Canadian economy (and .ca) or rally around the Maple Leaf (and .ca)?

Wrong question, as no one is giving up on .CA because of Trump, but it's bad news for .CA end user sales, as companies seem to be hunkering down to see what happens before making any big expenditures.

Alberta and BC would the only one they'd want, and maybe Ontario, as the rest are bleeding money like mad and adding a money-sink like Quebec would probably bankrupt the USA.

But it's all wild conjecture because it's never going to happen. If nothing else, the First Nations would shut it down pretty quick because they've got a good thing with all the "settler guilt" in Canada, translating into billions of dollars a year, while the US doesn't give a crap and never has.

I wonder how the Trump supporters in Canada feel about this trade war, and threatening Canada and other allies.

No matter which one of those bozos ended up winning, there would be problems.

Trade War vs Rampant Crime & Migration

After experiencing rampant crime & migration for 4 years, a trade war sounds like a nice change of pace.

Trump just announced tariffs on Mexico will be paused for a month after they agreed to reinforce their northern border with 10,000 National Guard members.

What do you think Canada must do?

Stop allowing Canada to be a waystation for migrants and immigrants wanting to get into the USA.

All this "guns and drugs crossing the border" is total BS designed to create headlines, but lots of immigrants/migrants/refugees do abuse our system (duh!) to provide them easy access to the US. Then again, our immigration/foreign worker/foreign student system is so screwed up and rampantly abused that it's probably irreparable at this point.

By sending troops to the US/Canadian border?

It's easier to just close all the loopholes and abusive pathways, but the Liberals are so owned by foreign money that it's highly unlikely to change. Plus, it's impossible to get rid of the criminal element in Canada and no one ever gets deported - there was new immigrant in Vancouver with a rap sheet a mile long, and after multiple court cases and appeals (all at taxpayer expense) the CBSA finally got the deportation order... then Trudeau promptly cancelled it and let the perp stay.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, but all governments sell out their people. The difference is that the Liberals sell us out to foreign/international interest, while the PCs sell us out to national interest.

It wasn't originally about banks either, just another point to pick a fight on. Just wait, tomorrow is going to be something else.

I don't think Trump knows what he wants, he just want's to intimidate.
If we had just been absolutely non reactive he would have gone and picked on someone else. He thrives on feeling important and if you ignore him he will go away.

Tariffs are paid by his own people, we would just have had to ride him out a few weeks until he was forced to remove them as the Americans squawked over prices.

In BC, the gov't is happy to launder chinese drug money through their casinos so the gov't casinos essentially get a cut, and I'm sure employees/politicians get a bribe. Then when the laundered money goes into local real estate, then the local governments charge an extra tax, so they effectively get a second cut from the laundered funds. BC is happy to let this go on because its free money coming into the local economy. When it was investigated like 10 years ago or whatever it was, there was no penalty to the people in charge of the Gov't casinos allowing this to happen, and then they pretend to make changes but I'm sure it still goes on, they just know how to hide it a little better.
