Rick Schwartz, "The Domain King", has done it again.
After a brief hiatus from Twitter due to his concerns over the current censorship issues, Rick returned this morning to announce how he sold BestOdds.com for a total of 3.6 million USD.
He also made a point to highlight how Estibot only valued the domain at 730 USD, and how these valuation tools are "crappy" and only a "fool" would rely on them, and so on.
According to his blog post (see link below), he worked out the deal over "3 zoom calls and 45 minutes", and that it then took another 7-8 weeks for the lawyers to work out the details of the contract. The deal isn't just one big payment of 3.6 million either. It is said he will be receiving 1.8 million as payment (which was his actual listing price too), but will also receive another 1.8 million in royalties over the next 10 years.
The domain still forwards to his website but apparently it's a done deal, contractually speaking, and of course there's no NDA. Rick explains in his post how he always rejects NDAs, and how NDAs are a "DEAL-BREAKER" for him.
For those who may have missed it, Rick also sold GoBet.com for 850K USD this month...
Rick is certainly quite the character, a legend with no filter, who seems to constantly live up to his self-proclaimed title: The Domain King. Congrats to Rick, we should all be thankful he shares his sales, strategies, and opinions with us.
