I’m not from Alberta but did happen to notice that Danielle Smith has become the new leader of the UCP (United Conservative Party) in Alberta.

Any thoughts on her? Will she do better than Kenney?

It’s also interesting to note that UCP.ca dropped in May of this year. It was caught by MYID and to nobody’s surprise, it does not resolve as of yet. Could this be another domain that has fallen into the “MyId Triangle”? I feel like they need to do a version of “Unsolved Mysteries” just on TBR names that have been caught over the years and never resolved.

I wasn't sure if ucp.ca was worth pursuing, if the political party wouldn't want it, no one else would, so I left that one alone.

Danielle Smith was my first choice long ago when Wildrose party formed, but as a leader of the opposition crossed over to the then progressive conservative party. In the leadership election, I preferred someone else, but I'm happy "Kenney 2.0" from the establishment didn't make it.

I think she will do fine, and she is smart and leans libertarian, the only thing I don't get is her ideas on Net Zero Carbon, but if she chooses economics over ideology, it should be fine.
