Domain sales is a very tough business and almost entirely random, and there is no silver bullet that miraculously increases sales. Buy smart and buy low, and if someone of means really wants to purchase your domain, they will contact you, and at that point is when the salesmanship comes into play.
Everyone innately knows this, but you still see forums where people announce a sale and others immediately start asking "what lander did you use?" or "where was it listed? was it outbound?" as if these factors had anything at all to do with the sale. Somehow they believe that a change in lander will miraculously create sales. It's very strange.
Remember, you're not selling coffee or hamburgers, you're selling luxury online properties. Do you see a Mercedes salesman running around the city dressed in a clown suit with a sales placard? Nope, he's in a nice suit, smiling and greeting interested buyers who walk in the door. He knows what he's selling is enough.
Due to this strange belief that there exists a "secret sauce" to domain sales, a lot of companies look to perpetuate this myth and thus make money off the backs of domain investors. Afternic Boost is a great example, as it plays directly into the "we can increase your sales" mentality that many people seem ready and willing to toss in good money after bad pursuing. These days is seems that everyone has an option that will "raise sales"... for a price.
It's like the Gold Rush mentality - the ones making the real money were selling supplies, horses, guns, and other items to the guys actually digging for gold.
