Despite its representations, GoDaddy was blind to vulnerabilities and threats in its hosting environment. Since 2018, GoDaddy has violated Section 5 of the FTC Act by failing to implement standard security tools and practices to protect the environment where it hosts customers’ websites and data, and to monitor it for security threats.

The worst case scenario you can imagine is to wake up and find your hosting account is wiped out.

When was your last automatic back up?

When did you last download a full back up?

When did you last download a directory backup?

Does the host have the ability to restore your backups?


I seek out cPanel, it's a world standard and you can upload or download your backup in seconds and any other cPanel host can have your account back up in the time it takes for DNS to propagate.


PS. This is a reminder for everyone to manually download a backup, don't over rely on your host to do it.
Remember you need numerous backups in case your current backup is infected with a virus so don't delete your old ones.
