It's more that we're bringing over people who, through no fault of their own, are totally and absolutely unprepared for life in Western society. So we have a deluge of what current residents might view as "common sense warnings", but in reality these are really needed. Like really, really needed.

For example, our church sponsored a refugee family and some helpers came by to check in on them and found the floors entirely ruined by huge, circular black marks all over the place. After talking to them, It turns out they would make massive pots of boiling soup and stew, then take them off the stove and sit them on the floor to cool off... just like they would in their old home. :oops:

And this is just one personal story that I can 100% verify, and I've heard far crazier anecdotes from others.

I would really hate to see what some new Canadians would actually do with a hot iron in their hands, so that "Do not iron clothes on body" might be required. Not their fault, we're just tossing them into deep Western water and seeing which ones can swim.
