Catchdrop looks like a neglected sinking ship, there's no innovation or updates.
Is the ship sinking?

I hope not, it's an innovative service but I haven't seen anything new develop since the site was launched.

Once CD convinced the CIRA to allow open auctions for TBR domains, it was just a matter of time before others would join in.

It's like when Tim Horton's Brazilian owners figured out they could cryogenically freeze donuts, replace lemonade with Windex and make coffee out of roasted lima beans... it was pure profits, but then everyone started doing it.

They invested a bit with CIRA with the queues and wonder if they will renew them when time comes. It might be prudent to know when it all got started and to keep an eye for it. They made a huge dent but have resigned recently.

I think that time has come and gone, hence their current situation.

I think Catchdrop does what they do well, it's where the domain ends up thats problematic to me.

RegisterDomain.ca is outdated and not everything works for me so having to keep a domain there for 60 days is problematic. In most cases I now change the nameservers to my current registrar and add the domain as an addon domain to my hosting so I can control it from my cPanel until the 60 days are up and I can move it. That creates quite a bit of work for me and causes me only to pursue the names I absolutely want leaving a lot of pretty decent ones behind.

I think the CatchDrop interface is great, when they finally update RegisterDomain we will have a complete package.

I think if they allow customers to list domains in public auctions similar to DropCatch.com it would be a good upgrade for them as there really isn't another provider that allows this. I know they mention public seller auctions coming soon so maybe that will be a beneficial addition.

They did mention it, then WHC stated they will be offering customer .CA auctions as well. It's even on their website as a future upgrade.
