The top 5 phishing TLD'd (1.Viewing)

42% of all domains reported for phishing were registered in new TLDs, up from 25% the year prior. Subdomains use was up 51% to over 450k reported names, representing 24% of all phishing attacks.

Interisle analyzed the percentage of domains in TLDs that were used for phishing. The top five were:

1. .lol
2. .bond
3. .support
4. .top
5. .sbs

One of my favourite new TLD's is .pro

If I was ever going to register one for a business that would probably be it.

Top is on that list for this reason:

ICANN has sent a breach notice (pdf) to .TOP Registry, the company behind the .top top level domain name.

The breach notice says .top has failed to comply with Uniform Rapid Suspension (URS) requests, does not have a proper process for handling DNS abuse complaints, and is behind in its payments to ICANN.
