I remember that story well and was always intrigued how the WWF could lay claim to 3 letters.

Completely insane even today and always the question of "how much did they pay for WWE.com?"
 
I recall this as well and the great rebranding job the now WWE did.

Their slogan at the time was:

“Get the F Out”…
