Good afternoon all,

I am exploring the possibility of organizing two Domain Summits in 2025. The European event would likely remain in London, scheduled for the second week of September. For the second event, I am considering a B2B domain name and investor convention to be held in the Northern United States, aiming to attract attendees from both the U.S. and Canada.

Would you be interested in attending such an event? I’m currently weighing potential locations, with Chicago and New York as top contenders. Chicago seems like a perfect fit location-wise for Canadian attendees, while New York might offer the best connectivity in terms of international flights, especially as we start seeing a more global audience.

I’m thinking of early May for the timing.

Your feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Best wishes all! Helmuts

Traffic snarl in New York scares me a bit, not sure I would want to attempt that.

Chicago is more doable for me.

and, Chicago does sound a more relaxed place, doesn't it? How's connectivity to Chicago from major Canadian cities?

Chicago is very well connected by air to anywhere (I grew up there and make the occasional trip home), but its maybe not the most exciting place unless you're into hopelessly bad sports teams, museums and architecture.

New York is probably more exciting than Chicago as far as i'm concerned. And who drives in NY?? If you do, good luck parking! Subway (or taxis) all the way.

Namescon sadly died (for me anyway) the moment they changed venue from Vegas to Austin. Who the hell wants to go to TX in August??

I always thought Vegas was a decent location. At least its fairly compact, walkable or short taxi anywhere, and lots to do with countless restaurants and non-stop top entertainment options. But room prices seem to fluctuate from < $100 to > $500 per night on a daily basis. I think they've gotten very good at surge pricing.

But in all honesty, I haven't found too much benefit to going to domain conferences anymore... so not sure I'd even go.

Good morning (and, greetings from ICANN meeting at Istanbul), I've heard they are planning to move NamesCon to Miami.. just rumours, of course.. very, very smart move! Namescon is still the industry's #1 b2b event in the world.

Thank you for the comments - you touched on many points I am concerned about..

also, I'm thinking of maybe doing it as a web3-dedicated event.. still thinking a lot..

I wonder if there is domainer interest in AI, content generation, lead generation, development tools, hosting, affiliate programs, etc... i.e., ways to monetize other than basic parking?

BTW, yes, Miami would be better than Austin. Back in the day of TRAFFIC conferences, (and when my kid was little), we'd add an extra week to go to Orlando/Disney. Sadly my little girl is all grown up and moved out now!

This kinda gives me a flashback to the mid 2000s :) minus the AI part back then.
