The advantage of a floating arrow (when you don't have a floating menu) is that allows access anywhere on the page, not just the bottom.

But it's hardly a requirement, I was just really mixed up there for a second, looking for the error and wondering if an add-block had taken it away. LOL

And that is exactly why I like my hard coded one at the bottom of the page. Elements like floating arrows are a favourite for ad blockers to strip away and you cannot compensate for that because each person uses a different ad blocker with a different set of filters. The back to top link at the bottom will be left intact by all ad blockers unless you manually select the element for removal.
