Threads is the Meta's version of Twitter.

Threads.com is an existing app that isn't related to Meta.

Here's Mark's post on Twitter. Logged in after 11 years to post this:

You can't delete your Threads profile without deleting your whole Instagram

You see how they make it almost impossible to delete?

On Google or Twitter I can delete anything I want, facebook has been known to repost deleted profiles and pictures years after members deleted them. It was big when timeline came out and facebook was specifically asked if they deleted things members asked for. They said yes and when they were caught they said they only said off the server and they never said they deleted the backup server.

No Faceboook
No WhatsApp
No Threads
No Instagram

Do yourself a favour and never buy into that ecosystem.

How much of traffic is Threads.net losing to the .com? Will there be a Mega purchase in the making??

I use the Instagram for domains related on web and no tracking or privacy issue. And threads is app right now until web access become available. Posting same content as Twitter.

I am not.

I have no problem with .NET in general, but a company with an unlimited budget really should have secured the .COM for their brand.

The reason I am not using it is not because of that though.

It is lacking a lot of features I use, including a desktop app.

I will monitor the app to see how it evolves.

Talking about deleting things - deleted and re-created profiles on Twitter still show up with their old content in the search... Lots of stuff in Twitter has been broken for me since Elon Musk took over. I'm not paying for it, though.

Added: And I forgot - Twitter now seems to reject all abuse complaints without really reviewing them :)

Yes, I did sign up for Threads.net do see and I'm also using Mastadon for one of my non-commercial projects.

My impression of threads: It's not Twitter killer. It's a better version of Instagram.

Twitter is still much better platform with great community.

I think it's kinda too early to tell.

But from my perspective Twitter seems pretty intend on killing itself on its own. But then again I've never been really active on Twitter or paid for it.

That is true about Twitter, it has been full of bugs. Not easy to report phishing accounts easily like before, and many other issues. But still better experience than Threads. Threads is taken over by Instagram influencers.

LOL. I was just about to chime in that you can find me on Threads as @billsweetman, and my latest post (on Threads) is a list of other domain industry folks you can follow. Threads is in its early days, but the vibe is way less angry and manic than on Twitter. These days I feel like I need to take a shower after spending time on Twitter.

Shows a massive decline, even making news in Russia
Interest in Zuckerberg’s Twitter rival collapses

Threads benefited from the Instagram user base, which doesn’t seem to be sticking around

Like Twitter or not, at least you can say what you want.
If you look at Threads the censoring uses facebook and instagram algorithms to censor the users.

Do we really need to be monitored by facebook once again?

Sorry but I'm sticking to twitter, I'll take the good with the bad.

do you register for handles/usernames? If so, most registrations were probably speculators regging good usernames.

And I'm sure they made it an easy process for facebook/instagram users to just click and register. Just handing someone a username doesn't mean they plan to use it.

Approximately 100 million users have registered, and Zuck posted on Threads that there are 10 million users who are active on a daily basis. Hype died down

Threads only has about 22% of Twitter traffic and once you factor in that most of the traffic is coming from Instagram you soon realize that users have to go from instagram to threads and will eventually pick their favorite app while Twitter is on its own bringing in its own traffic.

I still think Twitter is the most important social app for businesses and you can see that because all the news organizations that said they would quit or had quit are back to tweeting.

PS. I just reached 600 followers and for a strict domaining account focusing on Canada that is a pretty decent show.

We've looked at Threads, but so far it's a no go. As you pointed out, still many features that we wish we had to make it a bit more effective for businesses.

Congratulation on reaching 600th follower on X. It's a nice number indeed.
