For those of you unfamiliar with the term, the word "ashy" is used in the African-American vernacular to refer to the dryness of skin. For those of a darker complexion, the outmost layers of skin show to be pale grey when dry; resembling ash. As African-American vocabulary continues to influence global youth culture—Canadian culture most prominently—through such mediums as Tiktok and Instagram, the term is growing in popularity along with such borrowings as "based," "bet" and "bussn'". Associated strongly with the skin moisturizing industry—which has become quite robust in Canada, thanks to its dry winters—there is a lot of potential for this four-letter word as a brand and as a profitable website.
