I wanted to open up a topic to shame some of the Canadian businesses that ignore the .ca and only use the .com.
Now I can fully understand this for an international company but if your roots are in Canada you should probably own the .ca as well.
I will start....
Tucows is an international company that has a division called Hover.com
Hover is basically a registrar for most extensions and they are based in Toronto Canada. They sell all over the world and charge in USD only. I used them as my registrar for years and ended up leaving them when the conversion rate got too high. At the time they did not own the .ca of Hover and I often questioned them why I had to pay in USD and even pay the sales tax in USD. It was absolutely ludicrous.
I noticed the other day they now own the .ca

The domain does not resolve and I am kind of disappointed that a Canadian based company is basically ignoring it's local market. To have to pay exchange rate and credit card markups on the sales tax portion of the domain is insane. I think it is high time Hover/Tucows puts the .ca to use and offers Canadians the opportunity to do business in CAD instead of USD.
So what company do you know that ignores the .ca and should be a member of our hall of shame?
