Not so random for whoever did their homework.

Cardly.ca was just registered in December.

Cardly.net has been around a long time, originally listing an Australia address, then it switched to a Michigan address, then it very recently switched to a Toronto address.

It appears that someone knew that cardly.net was about to be bought by a Canadian, and that someone wisely bought cardly.ca and waited. And they didn't have to wait long either. Could have even been the cardly.net seller, wisely realizing the buyer was Canadian, and beat the buyer to the punch by buying the .ca too, kept their mouth shut so they didn't have to include it in the cardly.net deal, then anonymously sold it later.

That's not research, that's serendipity and I think the only ones who would be in a position to pull that one off were the original owner of Cardly.net or someone connected to him.

"Random" was the wrong word, and I just meant that it cannot be a true and valid sale for comparisons (it was hand-registered recently and there is zero usage or TMs in Canada) and it's totally disconnected from a sale you could ever try to emulate or use for market data.

The seller must have reported it (to Namebio) themselves too given the last weekly Sedo sales' report only came out 2 days ago and it wasn't reported then... plus the sold date showing is today... but the sold date isn't always exact...

Sedo publishes their sales through their rss feed and Namebio publishes it.

Cool, I didn't know of it either, not that I ever bothered to look, but still nice to know.

But... there is some weird **** going on with that data.

The RSS feed is returning the following .CA sales:

So what's weird is that the RSS feed doesn't show the actual sold date apparently, just today's date? And it doesn't seem to show everything. It doesn't list m3.ca or czf.ca. And its showing some really old sales, like skilledtradesontario and guild.ca as if it were recent. And if Sedo is saying they've only sold those 6 .CA domains since 2021-07-25, that's remarkably few. And it also doesn't explain why m3 & czf aren't listed.

The Sedo RSS feed has never been a "complete list of all sales" and is more a selection of sales. I used to look at it regularly for .CA domains until i figured that out.

I use the Reeder Rss app on Mac and dates have been accurate. It doesn't include all the sales. You can tell by comparing the week's sales from rss feed and the weekly sales reported by Sedo.

Then why is the rss feed reporting sales today that were nearly two years ago?

My feed on Reedly is not showing those sales you listed as recent. Which RSS feed reader are you using?

Your app may be filtered out results it had already seen

'cardly.ca' is the type of domain I might have hand regged for its potential as a brandable. Had never heard of the Cardly site before. Interesting that the .com and .co don't resolve. What makes the sale suspicious though (eg: possible inside knowledge) is that it was registered so recently before the site moved to Canadian ownership. Small chance it could be random.

That RSS feed would be kinda nice, but without accurate dates, its a bit of a PITA.
