Given the expertise of many in this community, would appreciate it if members would consider giving their thoughts on pricing for a few domains. Automated appraisals and research have certainly provided me with some guidance, but insights from experienced domainers in this community would be helpful. Not looking for exact appraisals, just general range that you think would represent fair value for these domains. :)

FoldPhone.ca
FoldPhones.ca
FoldablePhone.ca

the first two I might take a flyer on at low xxx or less. the others I don’t even think I’d reg tbh. FoldPhone could be a brand name potential, though I think the fold phone era is mostly over. I could be completely wrong ofcourse.

If you're betting on a future trend, great, just sit and hold.

If you think we're at the apex of that trend, then check the traffic. Is anyone actually visiting the domains? Note that Google trends shows that "flip phone" is by far the superior version, but that those are still searched terms with advertisers.

Since you've got a bunch of them, pick the one you think is the worst and play with the pricing. Sacrifice one to find what the best pricing level might be.

Your best use of these would probably be to pick the best one and put up a blog/review site and post about all the current foldable models, then run google ads or use any affiliate links you can find. Increasing the traffic 100x with a blog/review site would add MUCH more value than the domain alone.

I'm hoping the fold phone era is not over. :) I wonder if you are thinking "fold" as in "flip" ? Whereas as "fold" for me is referring to the screen (single piece folding/stretchable screens).

Samsung is about to release the Galaxy Z Fold 4 soon, and rumour has it that Google is just about to launch their first fold phone. Apple appears to have interest as well, https://www.gsmarena.com/apple_begins_testing_folding_panels_for_iphone_and_ipad-news-54250.php

Thanks RLM, that's great advice. My rationale for purchase was future trend, but not sure I want to wait that long. For personal reasons, I'm wanting to get out of the domain reseller business and just focus on development. In that regards I'm open to any and all offers on my domains regardless of pricing listed.

With regards to the flip phone, I'm wondering if that is trending higher because of confusion of labelling, terminology, i.e. the new generation folding screen phones are being referred to as flip phones? Or is it because many manufacturers have brought back the retro "flip" style phones of the past?

I registered androidone can when google was promoting it. Still sitting on it, niche phone domains in .ca are always a risk... As in renewal city.

I did pass up 3k for MapleMobile.ca a few years back but that is as much action as I ever had on mobility domains.

I would assume its just carry-over from the old flip phones, a big chunk of the population is going to just refer to any foldable style phone as a flip phone.

I sold mobilecare a year or two ago, I think that might be the only mobile or phone related domain I've sold.

And I'd say the vast majority of end-user phone related domain sales would be domains that are better suited for a store/shop name, not a specific style of phone.

Yes, not much action for mine either. Someone has the .com comparable versions for sale on DAN, one is listed for almost $100K.

I think the value proposition for potential buyer of my domains is possibly (as RLM noted) in developing a review or shopping site for foldphones in the Canadian market.
