Dan.com acquired by Godaddy (1.Viewing)

But does it really replace the Dan lander? I don't see any Dan functionality on Afternic (like the ability to negotiate, chat, offer and counter. descriptions, etc.) so this is just Afternic parading around in a cheap Dan mask.

Pretty sad.

There is still SEDO I guess but I haven’t used them for years so not really current on there viability

I dislike Sedo for sales because they're not a registrar, or have access to a registrar for .CA, so it can literally take forever for get a domain transferred and the deal closed.

I once waited 40+ days for a transaction to close on Sedo (and have had many in the 2-4 week range) as buyers regularly drag their heels on the domain transfer and there was absolutely nothing Sedo could do to speed it up. Afternic transfer takes seconds (and money the next day) and Dan can also use GD to transfer to a holding account if necessary.

Sedo does also support fast transfer for .CA but not many Canadian registrars have this implemented yet.

Sav.com also has a marketplace and
PorkBun as well.

We're considering our options at WHC, would love to hear your opinions :)

Fast transfer is a scam and is a the cause of more incidents of "domain theft" than anything else on Earth.

At least at Sedo the process features a short reverification if the domain is still in the same account at the type of purchase as it was at the time of listing.

While I worked with Sedo for a number of years, I'm also not aware of any actual theft that happened through the network during that time. [added] The only theft I heard about were people purchasing their own or other's domains with stolen cards. And of course there were cases of domains stolen by other means.

It happens all the time everywhere. Scammers fraudulently list mass amounts of domains and when they get a "sale" they hope the owner mistakenly approves the fast transfer email, possibly because they sold another domain, or are transferring domains or don't know what fast transfer is.

This ripoff seems to have a high enough hit rate that scammers continue to go to that particular well.
