I have ran across his domains before, so I assume he has a strong portfolio.

The video call in general might be off-putting to many potential buyers.

The average person is not going to jump through hoops to buy a domain they don't really need or want.

However, if your goal is only to sell to the best of the best buyers it might not matter.

I don't really mind the idea in concept, but in practice it could use a more professionally produced video.

What he is saying in the video actually makes sense. If you have a limited budget, maybe a cheaper domain is a better option (for now).

If you look at etomic.com - its definitely weird. The inquiry starts off asking about the domain, then asking to sell his other domains, then asking for domain tips. Then even more weirdly, the seller says he doesn't want to talk until they can meet in person, even though they know they live in different states. Then the even weirder video response....

So yeah, this seller dude is an odd duck, and yes, I have seen some of his landing pages over the years, although I can't remember if any of his domains were truly premium. But I think he's got some good ideas, but he's just not great at executing them.

I suppose it could work in his favour though, if you're serious about buying a domain and its obvious the seller is a bit "out there", then you may be less likely to think you can rationalize the price with them. It ends up being an "is-what-it-is" scenario and either you pony up or walk away empty handed. That might not be a bad persona to put out there from a negotiation perspective.

I have passed on this same type of advice many times in what I guess you'd call almost a passive-aggressive insulting kind of way by telling people, hey, if you're just a small local-only business, you really don't need a great domain name like this. Just pick some two-or-three-word domain for $15 and you'll be fine. A domain of this quality is really meant for a business that wants to grow their brand beyond local. This is the kind of domain meant for Canada-wide or international exposure.

This guy falls into the category of not a bad idea but really bad execution
HE even provides some unregistred alternatives for prospective clients
Ive heard of the up sell but thats a down sell
I also believe english may not be his first language which may sometimes effect delivery
