This is an interesting thread by John Berryhill -

alert - Why You Can't Trust GoDaddy Brokers

John Berryhill posted communications between the broker, potential buyer, and owner (Post 35).

It does not look good. The broker appears to have said things that were misleading or simply untrue.
One of the false statements was used in the UDRP filing.

The UDRP itself is a "Plan B" that is DOA, but it still costs money to defend.

A shipful of idiots in that negotiation - the buyer and seller were $1K apart on price and instead of just paying it, the company launched a sure-to-fail "Plan B" UDRP that will not only land them and their lawyers in the Hall of Shame, but add some $$$ to any price they'll pay for the domain going forward.

You can almost hear the complainant's lawyer in the background "Don't pay a cent more Luther. We'll file the UDRP and we'll get the domain and you won't have to pay that squatter a penny!".

But the lawyers always get paid.

Thanks for posting! I've dealt with that broker myself...

And yeah, that lawyer needs to be fired. It is typical though, the hubris of many a lawyer will often prevail over common sense and doing the right thing for their client. This is a prime example of exactly that.

I just went through my inbox, I just closed a sale with him this month, but, I didn't negotiate a penny, just said this is my price and denied any counters. The buyer just wasted money because the broker didn't save them a penny and they paid the commission. They could have just contacted me through my own contact form, lol.

And just a big FYI, this particular guy seems to come in with an initial offer of 10% of the buyer's initial budget. Not sure if that's typical advice for all godaddy brokers? So personally I'd suggest to not negotiate a penny under 10x the initial offer, and after that, you might even be able to squeeze more as many will be willing to reassess their budget.
