Last December I paid about $180 CAD for my annual DDC membership.

Renewal this year is $321 CAD!

Anyone know of any deals or workarounds to get the price lower? Last year I think they had some kind of special or discount code.

They a phasing out any discounts on this product, it's been quite a while since I've seen any sale or coupons on discount club.

I remember when I had the bulk of my domains at godaddy I decided I did not want to pay for discount club anymore. At the time Canspace was cheaper than godaddy even with discount club. So I phoned to cancel and my service rep gave me discount club for free. That ran a few years and when I eventually went back in to check the status of discount club I noticed an upcoming charge so I decided to move out.

That was the time WHC started their discount club so the timing was perfect for me. Mind you I still have hundreds of domains at godaddy where I bought entire portfolios, part of the deal was login credentials and all. So I simply moved out what I wanted to keep and the remainder are expiring or given away.

I don't think you can get a discount anymore unless you have a rep and you need a minimum amount of domains there but even that is no assurance because they seem to be moving reps around every so often.

Personally I think the way WHC runs discount club is the way to go. You get the price when you hit 75 registered domains and that is it. Godaddy might have to consider that at some time in the future because in my case it kept giving me anxiety every time the renewal date came near.

I don't like playing games waiting for specials and discount codes, etc.., so I avoid GD. If you really like GD, the next time you get an offer from a GD broker (I just got another today), ask them to just give you the membership for free (if they want to do business with you).

Out of curiosity, what is their pricing model for .com & .ca? Do they have pricing tiers for each TLD, or is it all the same price per TLD regardless of how many you have?

I primarily keep my .ca with @bmetal . You can probably talk to them about bulk pricing.

For non .ca, I primarily use Pricing | Fabulous
I like their straight forward tiers for pricing.

@MapleDots You're using WHC for .com, .net, .org, .io, .co, etc?

How is that compared to Godaddy for management and control panel?

75 domains should be no problem for the discount.

DDC also includes access to things like Domain Academy and its toolkit (domainacademy.com/tools), which includes:
  • Data manipulation
  • Research snapshot
  • Valuation worksheet
  • Bulk valuations
  • Keyword research
  • Domain explorer
  • How many people?
  • What's the population?
  • GoDaddy GoValue
  • Afternic Advanced Search

A lot of added value beyond domain renewals and transfers. Of course it entirely depends on your domain strategy.

I can't say I use any of those extra features, I'm there for the renewals/transfers. Been with Godaddy since the early early 2000's, probably a 20 yr+ customer!
