I just signed up for Grape, they have been winning more TBR domains lately and I noticed it was an open system.

Looking forward to trying them out when I need them.

I registered an account at grape and can get in no problems but when I try to place a tbr order it says my user name and password don't exist. Is there a different user name and password for tbr?

Same here, I thought they had an open system like Catchdrop and WHC but thus far I have not been able to get into it.

It looks like double accounts are required and it looks like user names cannot be used to log in.

Now I have to figure out which email address I used instead.

Thank you for taking the initiative and I appreciate the heads up!

I can confirm that the Grape TBR auction system is independent than the Grape registration system:
How It Works – Grape Domain Marketplace

While creating an account and registering a domain on grape.ca is easy, every new participant in the auction will need to be manually verified and approved.

Information on how the TBR bidding system works can be found here:
TBR(To Be Released) Dot-CA Domain Names

New as of Oct 2023: The second stage is an open and public auction where anyone can participate and place bids on the acquired domain name. The starting bid amount in stage two will be set at the highest bid received during stage one pre-order. In the event of a tie between bidders in stage one, the first pre-order placed will be considered the higher bid. Once the auction winner pays the winning bid amount, the domain will be assigned to them.
Important: All users who placed pre-orders during stage one, will receive a credit equal to 25% of their pre-order bid amount toward the final auction price for a specific domain. For example, if you place a pre-order in stage one for $100 and in stage two you win the final auction at $200, you will receive a $25 credit and must pay $175 instead of $200.

Pricing starts at: $45 CAD (see the examples)

Example 1: You place a pre-order at $60 and you are the single user that placed the pre-order, also no one else participated in stage 2 public auction. You will get $15 credit and pay $45 for the domain name.

Example 2: You place a pre-order at $200 and you are the single user that placed the pre-order, also no one else participated in stage 2 public auction. You will get $50 credit and pay $150 for the domain name.

Example 3: You place a pre-order at $1000 and you win the stage 2 auction at $1500. You will get $250 credit and pay $1250 for the domain name.

My account is set up, here are the steps that were required for me....

1. Contact them via the contact form
2. They send you a link to set password
3. They call to get your credit card info

The login is here: My account – Grape Domain Marketplace

Keep in mind the link to set the password is only active for a few hours so don't sit on the email forever.

There is a new update for Grape TBR system going into effect in October 2024.

Important (New as of Oct 2, 2024 TBR session): All users who place pre-orders in Stage 1, will receive a credit equal to 50% of their pre-order bid or 20% of the final auction price (whichever is higher) toward the final auction price for that domain.

See examples below for different scenarios.

Effective pricing starts at: $30 CAD (see examples below)

Example 1: You place a pre-order at $60 and are the only user to do so. No one participates in Stage 2 public auction. You receive a $30 credit (higher of 60 x 0.50 and 60 x 0.20). Your final cost: $30 (60 minus 30)

Example 2: You place a pre-order at $300, making you the highest bidder in Stage 1 and since no one else participates in Stage 2, you win. You receive a $150 credit (higher of 300 x 0.50 and 300 x 0.20). Your final cost: $150 (300 minus 150)

Example 3: You place a pre-order at $1000 and win the stage 2 auction at $1500 after competing with other participants. You receive a $500 credit (higher of 1000 x 0.50 and 1500 x 0.20). Your final cost: $1000 (1500 minus 500)

Example 4: You place a pre-order at $200 and win the Stage 2 auction at $1500. You receive a $300 credit (higher of 200 x 0.50 and 1500 x 0.20). Your final cost: $1200 (1500 minus 300)

Example 5: You place a pre-order at $60 and win the Stage 2 auction at $600. You receive a $120 credit (higher of 60 x 0.50 and 600 x 0.20). Your final cost: $480 (600 minus 120)

Oh boy, by the time I know what my cost would be eventually, the auction would be over. It's nice to know that it might cost less than what I am bidding but have to see if it is how it is stated above and what would be the benefit eventually. Totally different approach but the key is to grab it first like today.
