HugeDomains.com - 4M+ domains strong. (1 Viewing)

That is Huge…(sorry it was just sitting there  )

Would love to know their costs vs revenues on annual domain acquisitions and sales.

Where do they get all this new inventory from?

They must still see a decent outlook for the domain aftermarket.

Mostly expiring domains pre-drop and after drop as well - they own dropcatch.com and namebright.com, too.

Don’t know their revenues but he ballparks renewal costs at 32M USD when they had 4,009,382 domains (according to Zoch’s first tweet/post).

Plus the cost for all the registrars (1500+?) to ICANN etc. The fixed cost per registrar should be about 10k. Renewal cost is currently $8.39 per .COM, but Verisign has the occasional promotion that might apply here. + $0.18 per domain to ICANN. + the acquisition cost for the domains they don't buy on their own registrar.

Yes, I inadvertently contributed to their inventory. :( See a few names that I let drop, are now listed for sale on their site.

Brilliant operators. They were one of the first to offer domains on payment plans. Their registrar, NameBright.com, has a very slick UI. Their BIN pricing is fairly reasonable, too.

Are they flexible at all? Looked at a decently priced name for a dev idea but was wondering if I can get them down a little.

They don't negotiate much; consider yourself lucky to get 5% shaved off the BIN price!

Thanks Bill, good to know.

I was hoping to inquire and let them hound me for a while since I'm in no rush and since the name is only registered in .com

Just a comment here....

I kept looking at a domain and after a number of visits the domain went up in price. It was an obscure Maple domain and I knew nobody else was really interested in it. So I refrained from visiting it for 4 years, checking only the whois to see if the name servers changed. Eventually they dropped it and I paid reg fee. Id memory serves me correctly I think they were asking $2,800 or so.

So in other words, I ONCE bested Huge Domains.

I wont tell you though that I also bought a number of domains from them....shhhhhh

Are companies like HD, or registrars, able to get data on the number of whois searches for a domain? If the whois search is done by third party?

I ask because I had the same train of thought before, and was doing whois searches rather than visiting the domain.
