I still have a lot to learn in terms of .ca name valuation, but this seems like a decent investment price to me.

Would be interested in hearing thoughts from others.

join.co sold to join.com for $3,900 USD

2.8k USD converts to about 3.6k CAD

I would list the .ca between 10-15k in my portfolio.

To be honest about it, that one is on my shortlist and I am back and forth on it.

I'm waffling on it a lot as well. I like it, but I'm not sure that the existing end users are there to justify the purchase. It makes for a killer brand, but I suppose the use cases aren't as strong for "Join" as they are for a lot of other words that are more commercial in nature.

Did someone mention that names like liquorice and scarce were available at reg fee

On the surface this looks ok but not sustained for a portfolio

Closer to end pricing in my mind

Buy low sell high

Buy high....

Well don’t smoke and buy

You made my point I think

I think this is an end-user price and a real decent buy for an end user but for a speculator I think there are probably better investments elsewhere

That's almost $3,600 CAD.

If I saw it in a dnjournal sales report selling for $5,000 or $10,000 US I wouldn't be surprised. Maybe even 15k or 20k. It has obvious end uses to do with memberships or subscriptions, and a short common word that's easy to spell. Always the risk in that it might sell next month, next year, or in ten years.

Even smarter when you know how to negotiate with the domain owner :-X

Congrats. Were the negotiations done through Sedo or is the (former) owner a member here?

I negotiated directly with the owner and bypassed Sedo

Got a bargain on this one
How did you track him down? I didn't see any info on WHOIS.

Great pickup and happy to see you got a nice deal on it. Any plans for it?

A new thread Joe, a new thread - always keep them separate.
