If I was the seller, i would've listed the domain for the asking price $ with no make offer option.
It's actually not absurd, I will set minimum offer as low as 10% of my asking price, the only difference is I will also set the BIN so the client bidding knows where they can start and what they have to do to buy.
So according to the tweeter above this would be absurd, but I do it quite on purpose in hopes someone even slightly interested will make contact at minimum bid. This way I have the contact information and I can determine if the end user has the ability to bid higher and I can tell them the advantages of owning a domain.
