It was 20 years ago I opened my company called MapleDots and little did I know I would still be domaining 20 years later.

Over the years I made many friends, on many different forums, and I'm happy to be part of the community here (y)

Congrats on your success and Happy Anniversary.

What was the original idea behind the Mapledots name? Was it to be used exclusively for domaining or did you have other ideas to go with it?

My holding company was called MapleOne, which is coincidentally the first domain name I ever owned.

I was part of the dnc.ca community and my user name was MapleOne but because that is what the name of my holding company was I did not want to use the same one for domaining.

So eventually I did a survey on that board and I had it down to 2 domains...

MapleDomains or MapleDots

I remember a number of domainers said MapleDomains was better but the owner wanted 10k for the .com and I only owned the .ca

Personally I liked MapleDots better and I was able to register the .ca & .com

@theinvestor and I spoke for quite a while on it and he we agreed MapleDomains was a better fit but I thought it was too generic and MapleDots was highly unique and brandable.

So MapleDots it was, and the rest is history for me, the name has served me so well over the years.
