Manufacturing toy giant Mattel have made a major mistake in the packaging of their Wicked dolls to coincide with the release of the upcoming movie adaptation of the hit Broadway musical.
Social media users have discovered that merchandise for the film, which stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo as witches Glinda and Elphaba, mistakenly features the URL of an adult entertainment site wicked.com instead of the correct domain for the film, WickedMovie.com.

“Parents are advised that the misprinted, incorrect website is not appropriate for children. Consumers who already have the product are advised to discard the product packaging or obscure the link and may contact Mattel Customer Service for further information,” said the manufacturer.

You knew the class action lawsuit was coming

According to court documents, a South Carolina resident is launching a class action lawsuit after purchasing the toy for her young daughter, who visited the X-rated website that had “nothing to do with the ‘Wicked’ doll.” The toy company mistakenly listed a similarly-titled website for the adult-entertainment site Wicked Pictures, rather than the official page for the Universal Pictures film, starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. The plaintiff alleges that Mattel didn’t offer a refund and believes she and her child suffered “emotional distress” from the misprint.

Was this really an error though on Mattel? I say this because there are some evil, sick, twisted people in this world. It’s a very simple thing one would think. Put correct web address on box. I truly hope the person in charge of this got fired.

I checked on ChatGPT and it said this, so maybe I saw it at a registrar or something, not CIRA policy. Maybe some registrars don't allow adult sites on .ca or other extensions.

In summary, while it is technically possible to build an adult website on a .ca domain, it must adhere to Canadian laws and the policies of the domain registrar. You should also ensure that you follow the necessary privacy, consent, and age verification processes.
