This will indeed be interesting to keep an eye on.

Epik has had a bit of a bad rep from some online communities as being “far right wing”. I believe a lot of that comes from when Gab.com made the switch over from GD to Epik amongst other things.

I personally like epik. A few of my top .ca’s are there and their customer service is wonderful.

So apparently Masterbucks is now charging a substantial withdrawal fee.

If they are going to become a service similar to paypal they will have to charge a fee irregardless of how many people complain.

The only bad thing about all this is they gave no prior warning and shut the system down while they implemented the changes. They should have announced the change effective on a particular date and allowed people to withdraw funds for free until then.

Hell of a mess at the moment and it's not creating a fan base.

Makes you wonder what the thought process was…if any:unsure:

Gab was a bad look but they seem to gravitate towards most/any extreme far-right garbage, which doesn't impress me at all.

See the breaking news below... Alex Jones / Info Wars just got slapped with 965 MILLION dollars USD in damages for the crap he spewed about Sandy Hook being fake. That's over 1.33 billion Canadian dollars...

For the record, I don't dislike Epik as a domain registrar for domain investors either.... and Rob is essentially always nothing but polite and professional even when people are cursing him out (although that's probably strategic)... but it's a weird angle for them to take on such controversial websites that only shed a terrible light on them. It's not exactly trivial stuff either when it comes to hate crimes/massacres, and even their wikipedia page alone reads like a horror story.

All that said, I was still hoping their masterbucks would become a serious competitor to paypal. The more options the better.

I'm happy to see that words have consequences. I've seen too many times where people can taunt and try and provoke people. Everyone needs to understand that words have meaning and impact, and if you use them like weapons, then don't be surprised and cry like a lil bitch when you get punched in the face. Alex got punched in the face today, it was well deserved and good to see.

No, he got beat to a pulp, the judgement is insane

A few million to each family would have been an excellent judgement but he cannot possibly pay this, it makes a mockery of the whole system and the chances for compensation to the victims is almost nil.

Take his net worth into consideration (150 million I think) and then you can take a hundred million or so and divide it up among the victims.

With the current judgement he will end up in another country and nobody will get anything.

In the domaining world I was hoping dan.com would become the new paypal for domainers but the 5% push to pay probably won't last forever.

I'm hopeful GD won't fiddle with the commissions/fees (too much), otherwise GD would stand to lose more than they will gain (imo).

People mainly started using Dan because of the 9% commission so that was essentially their biggest appeal... and I'm sure many people are ready to jump ship the moment it were to change drastically (including myself)... AND... I'd like to think GD knows that too.

And while Dan is great, it can't be that difficult to replicate what they've done either so if they mess with the formula they will most certainly ruin what they've acquired. And of course that's me being optimistic.

Totally agree. I believe in free speech but every single right we have has limits. These families from Sandy Hook were getting insane hate mail because of the crap that Alex Jones was saying. Imagine getting hate mail and death threats from strangers after your toddler was gun downed at school? And it went on for years?

It is an insane amount but there were 26 deaths in Sandy Hook so when you take into account how much each family might be awarded it can add up pretty quickly. That old lady who spilled hot coffee on herself got a fortune from McDonalds just because the coffee was too hot, and that was in 1994.

I'd think Alex Jones is worth more than 150M too (see below).

In the Connecticut trial, a corporate representative for Jones' companies has testified that Infowars may have generated anywhere from $100 million to $1 billion in revenue in the years since the Sandy Hook massacre. Testifying during the previous trial in Texas, Jones told the court that Infowars earned around $70 million in revenue in the most recent fiscal year, up from an estimated $53 million in 2018, the year Infowars was broadly deplatformed.
Alex Jones' defamation trials show the limits of deplatforming for a select few

It's not like he has to come up with the entire sum at once, and it could be something he will have to pay for the rest of his life. He will certainly apply to appeal anyway so it's likely not over yet... and if he can make it to the Supreme Court then he might do much better or pay a lot less since that bench is now much different with the judges Trump was able to appoint (hence the change in abortion laws etc recently).
