We get hundreds of views from guests that never sign up so I am thinking of restricting one forum from guests.
They would have to sign up in order to read that forum.

I do not want to restrict showcase domains or the buy & sell forums because they are in marketplace and should therefore be indexed by google.

I was think the TBR forum might be a good one to restrict from prying eyes that are not registered.

As always I have made no decisions on this without consulting the moderators and member base.

Chime in below if you like or dislike the idea.

If you do like it please tell me which forum you think should be restricted from viewing by guests.
Keep in mind restricting a forum from view will also cause google not to index it.

You could restrict the Talk Domains section. There is a lot of really good info happening there but nothing that would prevent or discourage sales on the sales oriented sections of the forum.

This would be my line of thinking:

Guests: Showcase Domains, Buy & Sell Domains

Registered Users: Everything else

Those are the two forums that I think users post to that are actually meant to be public. The rest could arguably have more private type information.

That being said, there's not exactly much barrier to entry from registering... but it is something.

I would go with this.
