Summer Doldrums & Winter Blues (6.Viewing)

I got an email from someone pretending to be from the Red Cross asking me to donate red.ca

It was pretty obvious, their mark is a cross, red on its own makes no sense. I don't tell people to f off often but that really annoyed me.

I'm thinking of cranking my minimum bid up to $1K on all domains just to see what happens. I keep getting these $500 offers that go nowhere and often the (cough) "potential buyer" (i.e. domain hobo) is a bit of a doorknob and will write essays back on why he won't pay more than $500.

If I can get rid of at least some of these nitwits it will be a net win for me, no matter if I sell anything or not.

I have had 1k min offer for more than a year. It does weed out domainers and time wasters. There were some who offer 1k and when I reject then they offer $100.

that was exactly my thinking when I did that over a year ago at Dan. I have my min around $800 to $1000 US, and higher for my better quality domains. Apart from the odd sale early on, it has been pretty quiet for over half a year. Tire kickers are definitely weeded out! I still point some domains to my own landing page with no min offer specified, and that's been equally as quiet. I just think the .ca domain aftermarket is slower/quieter than normal.

Definitely, but I'm really trying to get rid of the tire-kickers and hobos who don't seem to have more than $500. Hopefully a $1,000 minimum keeps them in their cages.

After a few months of quiet you start to miss them a little... 🥺

No way - I used to get stacks and stacks of GoDaddy inquiries at $100 and I don't miss those in the least.

When I get an offer, I want it to be from a serious buyer, and if there are no offers, then that means there are no serious buyers (yet) for those domains. No big deal.

That is one of the good points about setting higher minimums, when you do see an inquiry you know they have met a certain bar. Unless they started low and just kept putting in higher numbers so the form would submit, there's always a few of those.

Nothing will ever fully legislate or mitigate pure, unbridled idiocy.

Thanks and it's been a long, dry February with lots and lots of renewals.

had one negotiation recently, it ended at my ask of $4500 US and their offer of $2250 US for a one word .ca.

we're now in the stage where it's been a few days and I'll see if they come back or not.

I can add Sprin

I can add spring fever :ROFLMAO:
that would be good if things pick up!

crypto markets are pretty hot again, you'd think there'd be more crypto related sales going on now. I mean bitcoin and solana, what a run they've had...

gold been at it's all time high and looking strong too, and Gold.com just recently sold.
