TBR Drop - Aug 2, 2023 (1.Viewing)

After yesterday's debacle and my continued sales drought, I think I need to take a break for a month or so.

I'll still play the top end of the TBR pool, but no more "deep diving for hidden gems" as it's just not worth the time & effort with these regular (i.e. 99.9% crap) TBR lists.

* On that note, I didn't even realize I still had it ordered it but somehow I won SnowBike - I dislike generics in general, but anyone think this has one has any potential?

It's time to look around which ones from the portfolio need to be renewed, before the price hike strikes.

The quality of domains has decreased drastically for sure. I saw some of the domains that I dropped recently, getting picked up in top 10 positions, including one this week. I can only wish the new owner some good luck.

With my luck it's probably me.

Quite honestly, I'm looking at which ones to drop.

This adjusted Friday TBR auction time for MyID is terrible - due to MyID's haphazard performance lately, I keep forgetting it even exists.

Apparently not everyone forgot. $1800 is a good sale for MyID.

Sure, and I'm just speaking for myself where I literally had/have a good few hours carved off for the TBR on Thursdays.

I have noticed that people bid earlier at MyID now and this auction (as well as a lot of others) was over at exactly 1PM. Probably so they don't forget.

I bought it and gifted it to them.

I was going to try the same thing, but I didn't want to screw anything up for them by inadvertently raising the price or getting in an auction, etc.

Plus, I've had some bad experiences in this area, with a "no good deed goes unpunished" theme.

That is very true, sometimes the "no good deed goes unpunished" factors in, but in this case I didn't see that to be an issue. That's usually a factor when you're helping a complete newb or some old person - it ends up being way more work than you banked on.

And I've been using Bodis a long time so it was just a token of appreciation, not wanting anything in return. Scratch that, put better RPMs on my wish list, it has been horrible this year. It's actually crossed my mind that I might have to start looking for other options for the first time in a long time...

Bodis said this spring that they were launching some better keyword matching algorithms and that revenues would go up but sadly things have only gotten worse, not better.

Bodis revenues probably are up, just not yours. :ROFLMAO:

More and more people using ad blockers and bodis has not fixed that yet.

It's impossible to fix as some add-ons of these are blocking absoliutely everything now.

Once that "paid ad link" starts to load, the page is killed by the browser and it's game over. The only solution is to not use paid ad links and instead forge partnerships using standard links, but that's a lot harder and more time-consuming.

Honestly, I'm not so sure why people get so amped up about blocking ads. I just ignore them, pretty easy to do. Sometimes maybe I even want to see ads anyways.

More baffling is that we're all in an industry that literally relies on those ads one way or another. Even a guy who is periodically pitching to sell ad space for this very site, blatantly states he uses ad blockers. The irony is kinda funny.

In all seriousness, does anyone have stats on ad blocker usage?
