I doubt it. The two big Pandoras use .com and .net, and they both could have clearly tried to buy the .ca from the old owner if they actually cared. Then he's the Whale then, but there was definitely an end user/broker on the other side.

Just guessing that it would be you. Congrats? What makes you think that?

Yep it didn't take him long to come out of the closet on that one, haha.It is him.

I'm always open and honest, I stand behind my decisions even if the whale crushes me one day.
Maybe they did, but their measly $10K or whatever offer wasn't even close to worth it for the business to switch?
I've had that happens with clients - they get some $5K, $10K or even $20K+ offer for their premium .CA (as you know, no one is offering millions for a .CA and Canadian business is cheap as dirt) and they just laugh and do some quick mental gymnastics on how much it would cost them to switch to another domain (stationary, business cards, signage, office accoutrements, legal name change, website, advertising, etc.) not to mention all the lost business and sheer investment in time & effort, and then totally ignore them.
The only way this scenario makes sense is if a Canadian company owns both the .COM and .CA, and gets a life-changing money offer on the .COM and decides to sell - this has happened a few times recently, but the .CA? I don't see any company ponying up the necessary cash to make it worthwhile for the business that currently owns the domain.
The best time to buy is when the domain hits the expired list and all you need to do is outbid the wholesalers.
I had different reasons for purchasing the domain, I will be using it to drive traffic to my market page at dn.ca
I have plans of allowing every member to place google ads onto their own member page and I will start with mine to see how it works.
Right now I am approaching 1 million unique views on my market place page and I think it's time I monetize it so I will be testing different types of ads on my market page first.
If all goes according to plan every member will have a place to insert their own ads on their market page and retain the income thereof.
So basically they point their domain similar to what I have done with Red.ca and once they add their add preferences they should be able to start eraning ad revenue.
This is only one of the things I am working on for the new year and I expect my market page to take at least a million uniques per year but right now I achieved that in 3 months so you can deduce the revenue stream there.
My ultimate goal is for DN.ca to become a lander for a big chunk of the .ca domains where the owners make revenue and from there on it links back to their preferred dan.com, godaddy, afternic etc.
I mean really, why not take all the ad revenue if you can and this is only one of the new changes come 2023, I am still working on a master for sale list that is searchable. I have started commissioning the code and got some crazy quotes so I might have to take on that project myself. The hard part is making it so everyone can only edit their own part of the list, I have some ideas there and 2023 is the year to implement these new changes.
FYI. SEO is the game!
