I know it's a nice domain and I'm not harping on the price, just at how incredibly fast the bids have accelerated. Usually this stuff goes into 4-figure land closer to the end of a week-long auction, not within the first few hours.

A good measure is always to see if the .com and other extensions are registered and then base your decision off of that.

The answer for me would be yes, it has potential to make a few k to an end user.

Exactly and as I noted earlier, I initially thought this was going to be a winner, but instead it turned out to be a pariah, more than likely due to its reckless meaning and Disney's impressive legal team.

Obviously you wouldn't use the comic book character, but I've seen other similar cases where the usage has been extremely low, and usually it turns out that every new company who chooses that name is endlessly harassed by the TM owner.

I've seen this happen a lot. Do you want to go to court with a billion-dollar company who owns a highly-visible property that has been in movies, TV shows, cartoons, comics and other media since the 60's, or do you just want to change your company name?

Not saying that's happening here, but virtually no one in Canada uses the brand (those that do might be older companies) and Disney is voracious when it comes to legal threats. I literally need more "danger domains" like this, like I need a hole in the head.

Well the collagen auction finally ended. @MapleDots wasn't the winner, it was the former owner, CanPrev. The domain was purchased a few years ago for $10K USD, but had to pay $17K CAD to re-acquire it after what I assume was a mistake with an expired CC on file or something like that. Ouch.

I go way back with that company, still do an immense amount of business with them.
