I was able to secure some today and it works. Had no issue taking control or changing DNS etc.

I can't seem to change/add DNS TXT (it just boots me back to the main screen) so I'm just using nameservers for authentication. How are you doing it?

Once the domain captured is assigned to you after payment, go to their Registrar website at RegisterDomain.ca and the rest should be a breeze for you.

My, how detailed an explanation. :p

I assume it must be fixed as initially the DNS manager didn't work. I'll try it now.

Nope, it still doesn't work for me - I go to Addons then DNS Host Record Management and it boots me out. Is there another method of settting DNS TXT records?

Lol, don't tell him, we don't need any more bidders
More bidders means more players = higher sales prices. Not only for auctions but also for your inventory. I’m all for it personally.

@FM

I'm getting my Auction email notifications in French, the headings are all english but the body is French.

I will PM you a copy
Looking into this; thank you for alerting me.

Welcome again Yaacov

Engage the members here and you will find lots of POSITIVE discussion. There is no benefit to not engaging the community that is the most active TBR community in Canada. You notice WHC has 6 service representatives on the board to engage our community: Service representatives

You said you were no longer going to respond on the board so I took that as you did not want to engage and I refrained from covering additional CatchDrop topics. You will notice lots of WHC topics and they always engage the community in a positive manner.

So I would say open some topics, you can say we had a great week, we have these domains on offer, good luck to the highest bidder.

I would love to have you on board more but ultimately that decision rests on engagement.

Thank you again for posting Yaacov (y)
Hi Frank,

I agree with you and I would like to clarify that I never said that I will no longer engage on the forum, what I said was that CatchDrop will no longer respond to individual technical support issues/tickets opened on the forum.

Technical issues on any platform should be resolved directly between the user and the platform. We are very attentive to all our users and we work around the clock to resolve any and all technical issues that arise during our current Beta.

CatchDrop has been wanting to sponsor DN.ca and then during that same time all sorts of baseless allegations started to surface.

We embrace the entire Canadian domain industry community, but at the same time our goal is to bring innovation to it, in light of growing it and to have more players, raise awareness to the importance and value of domain names and ultimately grow the overall amount of .CA registrations. This is also one of the main reasons we opted to offer registrations at COST PRICE FOR EVER. Cost price is not beneficial to us as a business, but in the long run it will be for all, so we do it as our contribution for the purpose of growing the amount of .CA registrations nationally.

For a minority of people that is not in their interest, but in the long run and in the bigger picture it's of immense benefit to the entire .CA domains eco system.

There is many active users here that are always willing to discuss any issue, but never once will they mention how many domains they have caught so far for $8.88!

This is also the reason we launched a public auction system that discloses publicly everything. How many bidders, the name/alias of the bidders etc...
By finally making all this public, the average person, entrepreneurs and the like that had no clue that domains were even bought or sold are now intrigued and start participating, hence slowly but surely growing the community.

CatchDrop has many features in the works that will soon be released that will bring innovation and benefit domain investors and the newbies. The .CA market needs more traction and that could only be accomplished by enabling access to anyone interested and raising awareness about this industry.

This will inevitably, create more demand, and more demand means retail prices/values will increase.

I hope that this glimpse of our overall vision for CacthDrop is embraced and supported by all, so that together as a collective effort we can achieve bringing the .CA domains to new heights.

Now in regards to our ID verification system, I would like to clarify a few things.

First of all the ID verification is of great benefit to anyone that has a CatchDrop account and participates in Live Auctions.
It brings a level of integrity to the platform. Not having bidders verified opens the gates to users running up auctions for which they have no intentions to pay for...

When we initially launched, our system allowed users to sign up without a credit card and that lead to several users opening accounts with 0 verification.
We have since banned those users and implemented more security measures in place to ensure that all active users are real people and that all their information matches.

We currently have approximately 30 domains that have either been backordered or won in auctions and have never been paid for.
( BTW: These domains will soon be back in auction starting at$8.88 and anyone interested will be able to participate)

Our ID verification system is administered not by us, It's a third party company that does the human verification.
The company is called Idenfy and they are a fully compliant and licensed company.
Here is the link to more info about them: https://www.linkedin.com/company/idenfy/

We have also simplified the process by removing the requirement for the back of a drivers license, making only the front required and speeding up the process even more. Yes many of the current domain investors like yourself, are legit and pay their auctions. But as a public live auction we must protect our users participating in auctions from trolls running up auctions and the only way to do it is with the ID verification.

Warm Regards to all & Happy Catching
Yaacov

Thank you for the great response Yaacov

Thinking about the verification I never thought about the fact that you deal with the general public with your auctions whilst some of the other players mostly deal with domainers so the verification is probably more important.

Thank you for taking the time to correct some of the statements, I/we appreciate the clarification.

As far as having you for a sponsor, we would love to have you on board. DN.ca - Sponsor

PS. I am going on holidays next week, I will verify my account when I get back.

It's my pleasure and I am glad I was able to clarify things and will do my best to be more active on the forum.
Enjoy your vacation :)

I'm not sure that "more domainers paying nosebleed prices" has any direct link to "higher end user prices for your inventory" and is more apt to translate into "buyer heartbreak in a year or two's time" for a lot of the Gold Fever crowd.

In relation to the US, Canadian business buyers are cheap and living in the past, so I really don't see how "paying more at the TBR" will somehow change that mindset and inherently get them to open their wallets wide.

"Hey Mr Domain Buyer, I paid a looooooooot of money for this domain!!!"

"Well then, let me just put an extra zero on this check for you."

:p  :ROFLMAO:

They don't care what we paid or didn't pay and once I told a potential corporate buyer (of a premium 1-word) that I had paid more for the domain than his offer, and he said "You're crazy, you'll never sell it for more than that" and I didn't hear back from him.

I may be new to domains but not to business. What I’m talking about is basic supply and demand and I strongly believe that higher tbr prices means more value to your existing domains. More players in the game means more competition .. it’s not rocket science. I also don’t believe it will happen overnight.

I don't. These are two distinct markets with very different players.

All that 'High TBR Prices" means is that we're all paying a lot more for the same thing we used to get cheaper a few months ago.
