TBR Drop - Jul 27, 2022 (1.Viewing)

190 picks... on that list? :D
I have stopped looking now.. It always surprises me the many which get re-registered, that I didn't even see in the list.
I notice that 90 of them were picked up by Burmac and 42 by WHC, accounting for almost 70% of the picks.
Wow..incredible indeed.

After looking at what was registered, I bet if half of those 190 registered were listed here for $20, they wouldn’t sell. That’s the strange thing about the TBR.

@MapleDots have you looked at the cost of starting/running a registrar and the tech involved in domain catching?

I'm actually quite happy with WHC, they catch a lot of what I want. Not sure we have to reinvent the wheel, the WHC guys are pretty receptive to our requests and we don't have to worry about any shenanigans like at myid.

dang - I let ya have aster @DomainRecap . I'm heading out diving in a few minutes, got distracted with getting my gear together, missed the auction end.

I know the feeling

I was writing some code for the forum and was going to enter my max bid on sips.ca at the last minute but wouldn't you know it, I missed it.

So are you saying you need more auction reminders? ;-)

No way Jose, but a better attention span might help.

I'm primed and ready about at about 1:50, check the bids, work out any counters I want to put in... and then the phone goes brrrrr - "Cool, an offer!", then I go off on a tangent working out how much to counter at... and it's suddenly 1:59.

Lets face it, if they were important domains we really cared about, we probably wouldn't forget. If I'm missing the auction, I'm not watching my emails either. I'd say its 99% a function of not really caring too much about these domains to begin with.

A text message notice 5 or 10 minutes before the auction might be the only thing useful. Too far in advance, and I'd probably just get distracted again.

I was in a different tab and lost track of time.

Too bad 5 or 10 minutes before auction end there could not have been a pop up alert of some type that the auction was ending.
Now here's a good use for browser notifications.

I was thinking text messages, too. At first it was a joke though :)

Geez, maybe Frank can bid for you too? :D

Actually not a bad idea

A member that watches the auction and puts in last minute bids, kind of like a proxy on my behalf when I don't have time to sit there myself.

That said I can probably write a script to automate that process.
