We seem to have some late action on Sante...

Definitely some good $numbers for french words there, so it got me thinking about all of them that dropped this past couple months. So I quickly scanned my lists for any that popped out to my non-french reading eyes as possibly being valuable. Anyone have closing prices on the following? Did I miss any?

oxygene
registre
reseau
alchimie
tuteur
gare
partenariat
carteblanche

These are ones I've noted:

engarde 117
ecolo 55
dentisterie 148
boulanger 491
gare 1000-ish

I'm pretty sure that reseau was over $1K too.

If you like french words, Dentisterie and Ecolo are looking like the bargains based on their real life usage (at least from what I can tell).

Some of those in english would really been at the top of anyone's portfolio. Anyone here have any of those english equivalents?

It's also interesting to see what the english .ca equivalents are doing...

oxygen - in use but private
registry - dead
network - dead
alchemy - dead
tutor - dead
station - in use
partnership - redirected
blankcheck - not registered
onguard - for sale
dentistry - for sale
baker - for sale
health - for sale

Just goes to show that really nice names are the toughest sales due to shallow pockets and highest expectations.

OnGuard was another recent TBR domain and it sold for around $600 I think. It differs a bit more than just language, as EnGarde is the official term used in fencing and other swordplay contests.

Same with Carte Blanche (I believe the CultofCar guy got it for $8.88 on CD) and Blank Check - effectively the same, but the French term has more panache.

Well - galerie is still at $1500, but sante is up to $12K. In all honesty, anyone selling that domain should be asking 6, maybe even 7 figures. That being said, they could wait a lifetime trying to get it...

In that case, I would think it is the end user. Hard to get a 6 figure on a French word. I don't think there has ever been a French word in .CA that was sold in that range.

Obviously it requires getting the right buyer to want it, but there's big money in health. But that's the kind of domain you would have a chance with, french word or not.

It's about time for another graphical update, brought to by me, your local TBR hobo.

Sante is really taking off (might be an end-user in there bidding?) while Galerie and RedRose are in a holding pattern.

I doubt its an end user, I bet its one person buying most of the top french words that have dropped in the past month or so.

Sante was up to $12K last night, no movement since. I kinda thought galerie might go higher. Would be fun to see sante go higher too. I know its french and I know some will disagree, but, I sampled its traffic and revenues last year when I owned it for two weeks. Its not a bad investment by someone, it'll pay for itself whether it gets sold or not.

In fact it was making a few bucks a day parking revenues, and that was averaged over two weeks without even giving much chance for the ads to optimize. If I was younger, I might be bidding more on it... I'm trying to convince myself to start buying less, I'm just not doing well at it.

Even though it's a french word, it's a great brandable since it's kind of known by English speakers as well. If a gym or a health food line branded itself as Santé I don't think there would be any confusion.

Now...is it worth $12k to an investor or 10x that to an end-user? I'm not so sure about that

Another thought I've had is whether the owner of health .ca is after sante. Would make a great pair.

If the price keeps going up, I might think there is an end user of some type involved.

Then again, Canoe.ca sold for almost $50K and that was just investors fighting over it. In these days of Restricted Madness, who really knows.

p

Possibly? @MaiTaiMan that sounds like something that would be up your alley. Most domainers don’t do outbound.
I have no direct knowledge of the sante.ca situation, but it's a great domain for a brand, and if I had to guess, whoever paid or is paying big bucks in TBR for that domain is either a broker or lawyer representing an end-user, or is the end-user.
