I am an end user of the domain so it was relatively easy for me to justify the cost.
It would be a bummer if the government changes the term but even then the name would have lingering searches so my assumption is that the name will be relevant for a few years atleast.
I wonder who the second bidder was. (If you are seeing this and if you had plans with the domain, let's connect
Yes, the term is definitely not going to disappear any time soon... Canada changed the term "pardon" to "record suspension" almost a decade ago and yet search volume for the old term is still high. If you plan on developing the domain, I would encourage you to connect with @Esdiel as he is a Canadian immigration lawyer with a lot of experience monetizing this sort of thing.
