40 in the old world, 200+ in the New World, no question.

I should specify my guesses, as I was thinking 220-230 and might have picked 225 - either way, pretty close.

Questionable purchases. so many of them *PARDON*

It's a Gold Rush without the Gold. 224 picks from a list like this is pure and utter insanity.

Words of Wisdom:

1) Buying domains is easy, selling domains is hard.

2) .CA is not .COM and you need to view .CA like you would the top 5% of the .COM market.

I am not sure what the CIRA is thinking, but the new font is actually worse than the old one where 1's and L's are concerned. Check out this LLL... ummm LCL.... um LLC... that just hit the TBR:

Both of these characters look like the Number One (especially when separate), which is even more confusing than it used to be. I though the 3rd one had the best chance of being a "1" but I actually had to paste them into Notepad to make absolutely sure.

When shown apart from each other the "L" looks like a "1" and if I a 3-letter like WLL.ca on the list, I would think it was W11.ca. No question.

Terrible list, so I was only going for 3 domains total - won 2 outright yesterday and just won the other at a 1-bid auction.

I guess you went dumpster diving.

let's face it, tbr _is_ dumpster diving. But there are some hidden gems in there, and sometimes they're just garnets and rubies, not always do they need to be diamonds.

It was a LOT of crap to wade through, but I'm very pleased at the quality-price ratio of these domains.

But man, what a grind. I felt like I was in the Shawshank Redemption... He crawled through five hundred yards of crap smelling foulness I can't even imagine, or maybe I just don't want to.

Exactly how I feel about these, and one of my 3 domains (the top pick on my list) was bid up pretty high on a few sites but I just got lucky to win it outright somewhere else.

Sometimes you get the bear, sometimes the bear gets you.

I too agree. It's not the top domains that gets sold quickly, although they have good value and potential.

Lol I agree. My comment was geared more to the fact he’s been calling it crap all week but still picked up 3 names. Even during the best weeks sometimes I don’t even pick up names. ;)

Gotta be very picky in TBR….

Lol, he’s just trying to scare people off so he can scoop them for min bids.

The key is that I only WANTED 3 names from the entire TBR list (which is extremely low for me), not how many I picked up.

I could easily have picked up none, but if I only have 3 names under consideration, then that week's TBR is absolute junk.

A solid tactic if it works

:D :D

As a potential strategy, that's right up there with using your life savings to buy the Golden Gate Bridge.

Everyone already knew it was a terrible TBR list by looking for themselves, but that didn't mean there wasn't a few hidden gems if you were prepared to wade through 5,000 lbs of manure.
