I think I'm steering clear of first-names for a bit - I sold one early on and then stocked up, but have had almost zero interest since then, especially on the female side.

That's the experience I've had too.

Some day I hope to convince realtors that they _are_ the brand and that a firstname.ca is a fantastic domain for that brand. Actually that seems to be the easy part. The hard part is getting them to open their wallet and invest in themselves.

Some of them are real old-school too and have no clue as to how things work now.

One lady inquired about a domain with her first name, but after hearing the price, kept telling me how great her current 4-word domain was (like realtor + city + area + something dot CA) was "because Google loves keyword domains - it's all that matters now" and "that's why I don't need to advertise, as Google sends all the keyword searches to my site".

Yeah... okay lady... I didn't type a word in response, I just gave a virtual nod and didn't reply to any further emails.

Had one the other day. Currently using firstnamelastname.com (fairly long). firstname.ca is nice and short --- did not bite. Asking was very reasonable, especially considering what real estate agents pull in nowadays.

sadly - that's par for the course...

I had a real estate agent reach out to me yesterday asking for a specific four letter name. I contacted to owner last night, negotiated until it was under budget early this morning, called the client to close things and he hits me with "I just can't justify the price". Are you serious? How about shrinking the domain from 11 letters to 4?

Offer it up for sale on the forum for the negotiated price and see who bites.

I (luckily) didn't purchased it from the owner before the deal fell through. Feel pretty terrible for getting their hopes up on a sale. I learnt my lesson though, contracts are being used from here on out.

Yes but maybe someone here might bite and grab it for the negotiated price.

How did this guy find you - a now-former-friend or acquaintance? Dude needs to be slapped. But again, with realtors, the majority of them never fail to impress me with just how cheap they are. Only the realtors with vision and drive have the courage to invest in their brand with a great domain name. The rest are apparently too afraid to be successful.

I should give a shout out to four of those Realtors with great vision and forward thinking, who have purchased from me and I was fortunate to find those ones . All paid premium prices. Unfortunately I can't disclose the names. They knew they were paying a good price for a great name. So it was all good.

In defence, we all like to spend the least when it comes to buying and wish the moon when it comes to selling. Realtors are no different. In full disclosure, I am NOT a Realtor.

It looks like Santa delivered a pile of cash to some bad boys and girls, and they're bidding on anything and everything this week.

I was looking through some of my "Deep Dive Dirt", wondering whether it was worth it to place a min bid, and was amazed to see them already at $50-$100. I can hardly wait to see the auction action.

Some have gone past $300 and even up to $1000.

Oh yeah, I'm just talking about my junkers, aka Deep Dive Dirt, not the top-end auctions. This is stuff that I would decide on whether to bid $20 on or not, and some of it is already 3-figures.

A lot of the premium stuff is already out of sight, but that's standard for the pandemic.

Lots and lots of money flying around today.

Tomorrow would be critical. People are only showing what they have in their hands today. Tomorrow would be when the wallets come out. LOL

Definitely, and I hope people keep their heads screwed on straight as there's nothing worse than a Gold Rush without the gold.

Don't get me wrong, there are some great names out there, but only at a price viable enough to make a profit at current annual turnover rates.

Wow, a big surprise on the Top 2 Names, with one going to Burmac/Dot-CA and the other to.. 10 Dollar Domain Names... WTF?

Don't see a lot of action from MyID, and maybe they had their servers front-loaded for those names?

MyID certainly didn't have a great week, but they did manage to squeeze out a few nice ones, but names that I had rated a lot lower than some people:

hometrader.ca, playstation.ca, comment.ca and oaf.ca
