Does anyone else have Lido.ca at auction on Siber?

As usual, my auction list is all screwed up, starting with Lido.ca sitting with an incorrect date and already closed, and ending with a couple from next week with 7+ days remaining.

Sibername went too hard on Cupid.ca that their dating system got screwed.
To answer your question, yes, I noticed that too.

Do you have the habit of entering orders into sibername as soon as you see them? Like are you putting orders in already today for next weeks TBR? I'm just going out on a limb and guessing that's the problem - you're beating them to the punch and they probably haven't even started importing the next week's list of domains yet. Or you're looking at the incremental updates quicker than they import them. So they get an order for a domain that isn't in their system yet, so they just tag it with the current week's date by default rather than the next week's date. Clearly that would be a bad assumption, but also probably not something they anticipated either.

I just know I've never seen this happen, but I never place orders at sibername until the day of TBR. So if you're placing orders early like I suspect, try holding off a day or two longer than you would normally do and see if you still see those problems.

Oh I l know that happens sometimes, but the system usually adjusts it to the correct date later on. Now I check before I place any order that the "Order Date" is correct, just to be sure as like you said, Siber is always late adding in new TBR drops compared to other registrars.

That's been a major bug for a long time, but this particular one is weird as the order itself always had a date of Mar 10 and it was only after Siber won it that it showed up as Mar 3 on the Auction List.

I order there like a madman and have NEVER seen an auction backdated and displayed as "Closed". The same as I've never seen one forward-dated to April either, but it happened.

I know it's not shaping up as a banner week, but come on. To start, this one got me for a half-second, if only due to the CIRA font:

i put the quote there as an example and didn't single you out or others on this board i am aware that there is always someone richer than someone else but no reason to compete to drive up prices when there will be lots of good ones dropping this year due to covid...

don't need to be a psychic to see that coming either as covid started last february in canada/usa... so it's been over a year... there are others in the canadian market that i could single out that have lots of cash like adam dicker... the owner of excellentdomains.ca i could continue... and i didnt post those names in my original post or yours!

im just tired of selfish rich domainers that already have a nice collection of good keywords not leaving any for the little guy or girl... not just me im sure there are others like me that feel the same way that are just to scared to say it publically not to ruin there name... but im at my breaking point! sometimes things need to be said without judgement!

You want to invest some $ in some good names? Look me up! There are many ways to play the game! Complaining that you are not having success isn’t the way to success.
You need another angle! Spot future trends first. Buy cheaper names and flip! Reach out to owners and buy aftermarket names. I recently purchased a top quality two word dot com for $500 that was advertised on Efty for well 15x that amount! So good names are available for $500 if u work at it
Don’t want to sound like a jerk but I even tell my own kid “don’t complain man! No body cares! You just need to work harder”

By harder I mean harder smarter and differently than you are now

a good response to that as it's often the same in the domain world a car depreciates in price the minute you drive it off the lot! the only thing that usually doesn't is property or a house... assuming your lucky enough to afford either and not living with your parents...

from what i've noticed with .ca's its often the same as it's not a .com or .net... its a domain made for canadians... that said you could have a 2k domain that could be sitting in your portfolio for 4-5 years before a potential buyer even considers it! does it make sense to buy one in tbr for that price... also you would have to really up what it's worth to make any profit...

although sometimes some people get lucky.. i rarely do im 35 haven't been cooking in a year cause of covid and back home living with my parents was hoping for just one decent domain...

it wont happen this time obviously... prices are already marked... it's not to late to say something so that hopefully even just once something can be left for the small guy or girl next time..

Domaining is a LONG game not a short one
People buy homes with Long time lines for payment and profit

Domains the same

I sold a twenty two year old domain last week! Worthless for 21 years but well worth the wait

people on ei right now get around 890 for two weeks so i'd like someone to explain how it's us driving up the prices???

It’s not cerb driving up prices but covid has sent a very strong message to the market that an electronic distribution channel is now mandatory

Websites are a must

Domains are at the Center or websites

Supply and demand

Simple

Now if someone can actually explain to me why the stock market is raging I’d be willing to listen!

I mean people have been unemployed for two years the fed has printed billions if worthless paper dollars
Interest rates are at zero mostly because if they were any higher the government would not be able to services its own debts never mind you! Domain names are valuable
Assets and will continue to rise In Value because they are intangible assets
That can be bought and sold, used to make money, used to communicate and in a multiple of other ways
Btc or gold do none of those
The market is waking up to domains end of story
Big players now know their online channel is Everything
That not the cerb is responsible for increasing Interest and prices

He's attempting a joke (badly) in tune with my comments that all the people sitting at home, including gov't workers collecting full pay, along with all the other rich shut-ins, with nothing to waste their excess cash on, are helping to drive up the price of stocks, crypto, sportscards, domains, NFTs, blockchain collectibles, etc.

Idle hands are the devil's workshop.

$6 NBA Hot Shots packs selling for $2K, every day a new record price on a Modern trading card, NFTs and NFT art setting price records, crypto coins spiking to unheard of levels before falling back, Reddit driving GameStop stock to the moon and creating mass chaos - no, all this would still be happening without the pandemic keeping people bored and in their homes. Sure...

This is an observed and confirmed economic trend that some choose to believe is pure fantasy and worthy of their poor attempts at humor.

We are in a massive BUBBLE that is going to blow and when it does....its gonna be ugly

Well said!

I view quality domains as digital assets with many of the same qualities of Bitcoin (scarce, easy to transfer, etc) but also true utility. The pandemic has sped up digital transformation by 5-10 years, even mom and pop shops like restaurants need a website these days. Look at Canada's immigration numbers, this country is going to grow and grow and the value of high quality .ca's are only going to continue to increase.

I worked a day job, then worked until 3 am in the morning everyday (I mean everyday) for over 10 years to chase names, research names, buy/sell domains, learn the domain business etc.

True!
There is no easy way to the top.
Becoming an expert takes time effort and money
I know that guys like aactive rim and every other successful domain investor busted their tails to make it
My observation about domain investors after 25 years of watching them closely is that the most successful ones worked the hardest, just like it is in most businesses and life 20% do 80% of the work and get rewarded for it
There are So many ways to make it in domains that it’s almost impossible to to fail if you really work at it but very few do! Registering names is not work! Buying great inventory is work! Hard work like Shaun says

incase anyone is wondering about the myid auctions that arent part of them diet is still standing at $7750 and goal is at $2350

I do and it's an iphone 5e lol im to stubborn to replace it now that the contract has been paid for a couple years now and its a lot cheaper on my phone bill without having to go back on a contract for a new phone... as horrible as it is compared to newer models I'll probably wait until there's an acident and it breaks, or somehow dies naturally eventually before buying a new one and going back on a plan lol
