Goes to show how much people really care when we pass on

It saddens me even more to realize that it wasn't worth renewing for his wife or the son, who are both politicians, and even to the country he served for so many years.

The irony of humankind.

I hate to say it because one should not talk bad about the dead but I never liked the guy as a politician. He became huge just as he started getting sick from prostate cancer. Not sure if that is what played into his popularity at the end but I distinctly remember that I could not listen to him speak because I disagreed with almost everything he said.

I cannot criticize him as a person because I did not know him personally but as a politician I always hoped he would never get into power.

Or gone and ALREADY forgotten

I was going for a play on the old "Gone but Never Forgotten" adage, which is is obviously not the case here with Jack.

I just got finished my evaluation of this week's TBR list, and I can say without reservation that other than CHE.ca and RRV ca, there is not a single domain on there I would pay more than a hand-reg price on.

It looks like everyone is holding anything remotely good.

Some minimum opening bids at Sibername.

They probably don't even know what a domain name is, or how things function online (or in IT at all). Government, they have their respective political sites, so they don't care.

Yep, people are 3-letter crazy this week, as there are no premium 1-word alternatives to spend money on. It doesn't change the fact that CHE and RRV are the only viable options, with a slight nod to KJJ (which is currently overpriced IMO).

I found it difficult to hold back last week and not overpay, and I think some people are just itching to buy on this TBR.

Some nice 5 letters

Text Box:
vwbus.ca 2021-11-10
wefix.ca 2021-11-10
whisp.ca 2021-11-10

[notify]DomainRecap[/notify] I mentioned the above in an earlier post, they are not bad domains.

When the new VW electric bus comes out vwbus.ca might just retain some value.

WeFix.ca has a great potential for a brand.

Whisp.ca could be anything and again a great brand.

So there are some nuggets if you dig deep and I only went to 5 letters.

Lots of domains can look good from a certain perspective, but other than some LLLs, there is nothing on this list I would pay higher-than-hand-reg prices for. There aren't even any good last names, which is a real shock.

Others may feel differently, and more power to them, but I'm saving my money for next week.

I'm thankful its a shite week. I dropped 5 figures on purchases and another 5 figures on renewals already this month... and I'll be on an international flight when the auctions end on Thursday anyways, so I'm even more thankful I won't be missing any great drops!

So basically we're all getting screwed with a crap TBR list because of your inherently good luck?

This is a reminder that as of this week, Backorders via Sibername must be placed on Wednesdays before 14:00 EST, due to the recent time change. The deadline will remain at 14:00 EST until we change back to Daylight Saving Time on March 13, 2022.

I was just going to post the same email I just received. :)

Ironically enough, a friend of mine told me that a guy at his work showed up at hour early yesterday because he wasn’t aware of the time change. I still don’t know how that happens.

I still fail to see the logic in this, as the deadline was previously 2PM during the Daylight Savings period.

And it really should be 1:45 (DST) and 2:45 (EST) to give Siber time to process orders for the 2:00:00:000/3:00:00:000 start time(s). That's what all the other registrars do, and then process the TBR orders, allocating placement and priority, with everything primed for tomorrow's 2:00:00:000 start time.

Last Daylight Savings period I put orders in late (at 1:59:45-55) and they were NOT placed or ordered, (I believe others have as well) so it's obviously not working and an earlier cutoff than the exact start of the TBR run is probably the best idea. I'm a Systems guy and taking an $500 order at 1:59:59.999 is simply not going to be properly allocated (or in my case, not allocated at all) for a run that starts at exactly 2:00:00:000 and where the timing depends on micro-seconds to win top auctions.

Good points [notify]DomainRecap[/notify].

Generally speaking for Sibername, I would personally put the bid in at least 5 minutes before the deadline to make sure your orders are prioritized accordingly. When we introduce TBR at WHC, the deadline will be 15 minutes before the actual drop at CIRA.

And yes, EST stayed the same the whole time, just that we were using EDT.

Since they probably auto-prioritize based on the highest bid, its not like it takes any effort.

But the _real_ answer is, they just want to give any stragglers a chance to jump in on the auction right up until the last nano-second. If it was your business, wouldn't you? I mean, they'd be silly not to, even if those straggler orders are unique and went to the bottom of the list.
