From 1 January 2021, you’ll no longer be able to register or renew .eu domain names if:

Your organisation, business or undertaking is established in the UK but not in the EU/European Economic Area (EEA) or

You live outside of the EU/EEA and are not an EU/EEA citizen

If you're an EU citizen and residing outside the EU, you can now still hold .EU domains using your current residence information. This is actually something that was just introduced this year in order to allow EU citizens living elsewhere to keep their domains. With some registrars, this may be a manual process involving showing some ID though.
