In the future almost everything you see and touch will be somehow affected by Artificial Intelligence thus making it a common everyday experience.

We all know .ai domains are the hot commodity at the moment but as domain investors we have seen these types of trends many times in the past and things always default back to ccTLD's and the good old reliable .com

Just like .tv will become obsolete as TV's become obsolete. We all remember .mobi or even the VR craze when every name with VR in it was registered.

Then of course there was .xyz (and still is) or even .io

Somehow I cannot see .ai staying valuable when it's everywhere.

In the future will you be saying.... make an ai project, or make an ai call? Chances are you will just say make a project or make a call, the ai part will fall by the wayside and the extension will fade away or become much smaller than it is today.

So enjoy your profits if you are making money on .ai but please diversify and do not make the same mistake someone I know just made. That person registered hundreds of .ai domains and to say they were low quality would be an understatement. I see this every time a new fad appears and wonder how many people were hurt by being over zealous in their registrations.

I was so vocal on NFT's, especially Paradise Trippies, I knew if was a fad bordering on a scam and always advised people to be careful.

So be careful folks, please don't put all your eggs into one basket.

There is definitely a fad aspect to these "new & hot TLDs" but the ownership of these extensions also does their absolute best to kill off demand by instituting (or raising + extending the existing) Premium Registrations and Renewals.

It's almost like clockwork - not long after an emerging TLD "hits", the TLD owner is almost certain to "strike while the iron is hot" and raise registration and renewal prices to exorbitant levels, while also taking back any good expired domains and holding them for ransom.

Of course, that short-money strategy has a seriously negative impact on both investors and domain buyers, none of whom want to buy a premium domain for $10,000 that also costs $10,000 each year to renewal - all that price gouging does is make the .COM look even more inviting.

So these greedy buggers "cook their golden goose" and then hip buyers move onto the latest "hot TLD" that still has rational registration and renewal prices.

Rinse and repeat.
