Warning for members using E-Transfer on mobile for payment

Especially with new contacts, test transactions with the minimum amount first. Better to lose $1 than $1,000.

SPONSOR What do you look for in your .CA registrar?

Which is almost exactly what I'd want. In an ideal world, my employer/org is the registrant of example.net, example.com, example.org, etc. with Contoso as the registrar. Alice, Bob, and myself are the three authorized contacts with Contoso for our organization. Quorum is 2 people to approve ANY...

SPONSOR What do you look for in your .CA registrar?

Not a domainer, may not be your target audience. I want a low-cost alternative to something like a MarkMonitor/CSC. Domains are identity. For my employers past and present, there has never been a real multi-custody way to handle domain ownership with a standard of "quorum" to require multiple...

    CIRA 2025 Board Elections

I think Jill Kowalchuk also has her term ending next year. It will be an incumbent-heavy election.

    CIRA 2025 Board Elections

I'm probably wearing down both this thread's original topic and my welcome as a frequent poster.... ...what's the appetite among those still commenting/in this thread for a ranked ballot? I'd have to do a LOT of reading to see if it's legal (INAL) but .... you'd think that'd be possible.

    CIRA 2025 Board Elections

I really don't intend for this to come off as mean spirited, but I'm somewhat in shock how Janice got second-most votes on the NCS. No response to me over LinkedIn with questions, didn't attend the meet and greet, and no candidate video on CIRA's website Just the standard (same-y IMO) CV and...

    CIRA 2025 Board Elections

Janis Diner? 🤔 Regrettably the member slate is not a super convincing result thanks to FPTP. Only 38% of votes backed the winning candidate.

    CIRA 2025 Board Elections

That kind of undermines the point of any expertise though. I don't know if it was the Greeks or the Romans (or fable), but one of the legends of the civilizations of antiquity was that the governor/ruler was picked at random. Why expose power to people with special interests or agendas or...

    CIRA 2025 Board Elections

I'm sorry if this comes off as gish galloping but just a few more thoughts/attempt to develop this discussion (maybe it's time for a new thread though). I get it, board members don't need to be equals to executive. That'd somewhat defeat the purpose of governance/oversight. I think the core...

    CIRA 2025 Board Elections

What happens when the board isn't technically fluent enough to recognize when the CEO or the broader executive is feeding them bad or incorrect information and making decisions upon that bad information?

    CIRA 2025 Board Elections

I know this is incredibly biased. Possibly immature of me to be bringing it up again without a full "cooldown" period. That's not the fault of the chair. They are following the rules set out to conduct a proper meeting that is fair to all participants. I obviously would have loved more Q&A...

    CIRA 2025 Board Elections

(I know I'm a very pedantic and literal person - some people really hate that personality trait, sorry.) There's only 11 candidates this year. 5 on NC slate and 6 on the member slate. The math ain't mathing. If there's more than a dozen candidates that could be reflective of the risk I...

    CIRA 2025 Board Elections

I think a dozen might be an exaggeration but yes it is very good to see. Might be a bit too late to change many opinions with less than 48 hours in the voting period but hopefully this starts a trend of more engagement in future years!
