They’ve cancelled the renewal after it didn’t sell
Got this in a lot with some other domains, and it expires in 52 days. I won't be renewing it. Free to the first bidder, if it has value to you, place a bid. Ends 24h after last bid.
Thanks for this. I should clarify I'm looking for Canadian towns/cities.com or .ca. I don't see the appeal of a foreign city.ca unless one was banking on .ca becoming an open registrar
Why does cira.ca appear to get a 2050 expiry when even gc.ca does not?
CIRA’s General Registration Rules say:
Yet cira.ca shows an expiry of 2050-02-05.
If CIRA’s answer is that some internal or registry-controlled names are treated differently, fine. Then where is that exception publicly...

And there are lots more. Hundreds...
I started digging into this after buying a .CA from one of their expired auctions, and the timelines do not look like what most of us would expect if a .CA actually expired, got deleted, went through redemption, and then hit TBR.
Honestly I didn't even look, their shtick has always been domains at cost, so that's what, $10 cad? Personally I'll pay more and stick with Canadian companies. I do give them credit for recognizing value in this market though.
Just came across this, not sure when it was added but it's news to me. The at-cost pricing is tempting, but I’ll likely stay with Canadian registrars for my .ca domains. Even so, maybe this is the kind of pressure that gets some of them to update their systems and catch up a little.
