Let's get started again. It's the Feb 22nd drop. I am looking forward to March 22nd already.
Any idea why???? ........ The last day of the RDR end date!!!
Until that, it's going to be a blood bath every week.

I can already visualize Danny Hunter & Co and Marie-Eve and the gang in the beaches taking a long summer break this summer!!

This week's TBR selection doesn't look anywhere near as good as last week's bumper crop, and so far at least, I think we're going to have a Whale Fight as the big boys clash over a limited selection of premiums.

richard.schreier @richard.schreier - I found something weird. beefpodcast.ca is listed here for this weeks tbr:

TBR

Whois on the CIRA website says its registered, updated at 2023-02-18T05:15:57Z.

See: WHOIS Domain Name Lookup | CIRA

Querying the whois server directly results in a time-out. It will return results for other domains, just not this one.

Did Godaddy redeem this domain? Up until what point can domains be redeemed and removed from the TBR list?

And whats up with the whois server timing out on this particular domain?

Thanks!

Hey Frank,
Below, you'll find some of the hottest .CA domains available to backorder this week. These names will likely attract attention, so place your bid before 2023-02-22 at 2:45 pm ET sharp to get in on the auction.
If you're looking for something more specific, you can always search the full list with your own keywords.

Want to learn more about domains and backordering? ... We recommend you read about the lifecycle of a domain name, domain investing and domain backordering.
And stay tuned! The next few weeks promise to be exciting and full of opportunities for those into domain backordering. Starting this week and until the end of March, CIRA will be releasing thousands of previously blocked domains (.CA domains that have never been made available before.) You can find the full list and release dates here.
Don't see the name you want? Stay tuned for next week's backorder list!
Happy bidding!
Cheers,
Frank (Chief Domain Nerd here at WHC)

I am assuming that was the time it was released to the TBR list and hence the updated time.
I see the domain in the TBR list for this week, so Godaddy has not redeemed it I feel.

I just did the whois lookup and it did not time out so cannot replicate your experience. Note that a domain in TBR has completed going through redemption and cannot be recalled. Once a domain is in TBR it's there unless we get legal action or something like that. The only way to re-register a domain that is "in TBR" is to catch it in the TBR process or wait for hand reg once TBR is finished.

The domain is currently in "Pending Delete" which means it has gone through the redemption process and is targeted for the Feb 22 TBR.

One other comment to provide some additional clarity, from a WHOIS perspective the domain is still "registered" while in pending delete, that's why the whois shows it as registered. The domain remains in pending delete until TBR and then the status changes which allows it to be re-registered.

Ahh, yes, I guess I would have assumed that the whois.cira.ca version would indicate more than just "registered" if that was the case, so my mistake. The odd thing was that the whois server was just timing out for that one domain only - which is why I resorted to the online version to see if it was having similar problems.

BTW, doing a command line whois lookup on beefpodcast.ca STILL is not working. The requests just time out. All other lookups work fine. Something is still wrong.

No, these monster TBR + Restricted lists aren't stressful to get final bids in, not with half of Canada struck with Gold Fever and bidding like drunken sailors. 🤬 🤦‍♀️

And thank God that TBR domains aren't an inflation index or we'd be hitting record highs right now.

PlanetHoster is really starting to piss me off.

I think I need to try to get some orders in there for next week.
