Just a "word" of advice before anyone wastes any real money chasing it, especially at auction.

ASCENDANT is the actual word, not ASCENDENT. so watch out peeps. From my calculations, there is only a single company in Canada using ASCENDENT and that's probably because their CEO screwed up the spelling. 🤭

Hell, even RACOON had more real-world usage. :D

Not saying you couldn't or shouldn't buy it for fun, just don't get it confused with the actual word ASCENDANT.

P.S. I also noticed Ascendent was highlighted on both the WHC and CD Lists. :whistle: :sneaky:

Some dictionaries list it as a "less common variant/way of spelling", just like RACOON (Definition of RACOON) but it's clearly not spelled correctly as both ASCENDENT and RACOON are flagged on browsers as an error and in Word and other spell-check programs.

Go to a Spelling Bee and tell the judges that RACOON is actually spelled R-A-C-O-O-N and see if you take home the prize. "But it's listed in the dictionary!!" :LOL:

Either way, as a limited use variant/alt-spelling of a true dictionary word, it certainly doesn't deserve a spot of any "Hot List" and I'm just sending out a friendly notice in case anyone gets it mixed up with the real word, just like we did with RACOON.

I know I got initially fooled by RACOON (embarrassingly, Esdiel had to set me straight) and did a double-take when I saw ASCENDENT.

P.S. Other than Gravel and Aluminum, this week's TBR pretty well sucks.

The more important grammar concern is not with Ascendent but with:

Aluminum (.ca)

In American English, this element is called aluminum, while in British English it's more commonly referred to as aluminium.

The two names refer to the same chemical element.

In scientific writing and academia, both aluminum and aluminium are commonly used and considered correct names.
Aluminum became preferred in the United States and Canada, while aluminium became favored throughout the rest of the English-speaking world.

But Aluminum is the NA spelling and is fully accepted as the dictionary word over here - plus it's really an entirely different word in the UK and even has a different pronunciation. Aluminum is definitely a premium domain and it's not some weird misspelled variant like racoon or ascendent.

Personally I think there will be a LOT of action on Gravel and Aluminum as there is really little else in terms of valuable domains this week.
 
It looks like MyID forgot to turn the TBR system back on this week (again) and it's giving the old "TBR System is Currently Closed" error.

I must be the only person ordering anything there anymore... My, how the mighty have fallen.
